What Searchanise does, what Mezcal does.

Searchanise runs your search and also your collection page filters and merchandising. Mezcal does one thing: it understands what shoppers type.

Before you remove Searchanise.

If your store uses Searchanise’s banners or product recommendations, you will need something else for them. Mezcal does not do them.

Collection page filters and sorting are covered by Shopify’s own Search & Discovery app, for free.

a month on the paid plans. The plan is chosen by your product count: Basic up to 1,500 products, Premium up to 300,000.13

Mezcal

From €19.90

a month, including 10,000 searches. Each further 10,000 searches cost €4.00 at the launch price (list price €6.00). For example, 100,000 searches a month cost €55.90. Your first 1,000 searches are free, and you set the monthly cap.

Searchanise prices in US dollars from its pricing page, checked 13 October 2026.13 The two are priced on different bases, so they do not compare one to one. Mezcal prices are launch prices, excl. VAT.

How the switch works.

You export from Searchanise, we do the rest. Searchanise stays in your store until you approve the switch.

  1. Mapping

    Export your synonyms, redirects and search reports from the Searchanise admin as CSV files. We go through them.

  2. Side by side

    Mezcal learns your store’s tags and categories, and we bring your synonyms and redirects over for you. Your staff try Mezcal in your own store with a browser extension. Searchanise is left untouched.

  3. Approve and switch

    When you are happy with the results, you switch with one toggle. Searchanise stays as a fallback until you are ready to cancel it, and Shopify’s own search is always there as a fallback.

  4. Clean-up

    Restore the theme changes made for Searchanise before removing the app, and delete the Search Results page it created afterwards.11 We guide you through each step.

What stays behind when you remove Searchanise.

Export your store’s settings before you remove the app.

Searchanise

  • Theme changes made for Searchanise are restored by hand before the app is removed.11
  • The Search Results page Searchanise created is deleted by hand after the app is removed.11

Mezcal

  • Enrichment is Mezcal’s own layer. Your store’s own product data does not change.

Questions about switching.

Do I need to cancel Searchanise before trying Mezcal?

No. Mezcal runs alongside, and Searchanise keeps serving your store for the whole trial. You cancel it only when you are ready.

Will I lose my synonyms and redirects?

No. You export them from Searchanise as CSV files, and we bring them into Mezcal for you.

What about collection filters?

They are not part of Mezcal. Shopify’s own Search & Discovery app handles collection page filters and sorting for free, with your store’s current tags.

Is Mezcal in the Shopify App Store?
